Nagadevathe.....

Sai Prakash directed "Nagadevathe" is definitely inspired by the success of Telugu Super hits "Ammoru" and 'Devi’ which had combined the aesthetic use of the "State of Art Technology" like graphics and DTS Sound recording and a folklore presentation. Both the films were lavishly mounted and the re-recording work and graphics work found in the film was outstanding. The film was also well presented in terms of production values. Both the films had some substance in the form of a story. But "Nagadevathe" despite its strong points like graphics lacks in the story content. The story is totally confusing and essential links are not seen in the film. To make the film run in a brisk pace, the Director and Editor have virtually spoiled the narration, thus rendering the whole narration ineffiectiv Sai Kumar’s failure is compounded by a poor music score by Hamsalekha whose lyrics have also become insipid these days.

The story is between the evil and good forces among the people and also between a Devathe and a asura represented by a magician tantrik. But the story as narrated on the screen lacks relevance in the present day set up. While a lady character in the film says she went to Bangalore for scanning and you also have an ultra modern character, You also see a village travelling in a Chariot like an 18th Century Palegar. The film lacks consistency in projecting the period of the film.

The highlight of the film is certainly a good graphic work, and the sequences involving the challenge and fight between the Nagadevathe and the Cruel Tantrik are well shown. If it was not for the graphic work, the film would have sunk much deeper.

Among the Stars, only Prema gives a decent performance. Soundarya has nothing much to do. Sai Kumar, as usual over acts. The comedy portion is the worst and it is pathetic to see such a talented artists like Babu Mohan and Tanikella Bharani being wasted.

On the whole "Nagadevathe" is just a below average film.
