        | Kranti is a father-son story where both are
honest police officers. Well, honesty is the only thing common |

            |
 | about the two and everything else is very opposite. Avadesh
Pratap Singh (Vinod Khanna), Commissioner of Police, believes in the principles and
dictates of the law. But son, ACP Abhay Pratap Singh (Bobby Deol), believes that the laws
are outdated. Ajay's motto is ""No FIR, No Arrest, No Talk, Faisla on the
Spot!" and his father is dead against it. Meanwhile, Sanjana Roy (Amisha Patel) comes
into Ajay's life. She is writing a thesis on Mumbai police and in one such effort while
she was accompanying Ajay in one of his hunts, she gets shot. | |
        | This brings their story in the open and also
find a bullet as a lead to the terrorist.
Next comes the villain.. It is Rana Pratap (Kabir Bedi) who happens to be a wealthy
        businessman known

            | for funding terrorism. Abhay gets to know
all about Rana and in turn Rana gets him arrested for crimes he has not committed. Abhay
is somehow rescued by his father and thereafter he is all set to prove his innocence and
also prove that his motto was correct. After a series of confrontations, both father and
son get united and their mission becomes that of killing Rana Pratap and in the end
Avadesh Pratap Singh agrees that his son was right. Finally, he too says, "No FIR, No
Arrest, No Talk, Faisla on the Spot!" |

        |    Well, nothing much is there in the film. It is a very old concept. Naresh Malhotra should
have worked on it better. Dialogues by Sanjay S. Masoom are routine. Editing is loose.
        Cinematography is Ok. Technically

            |
 | too the film is ok. Music by Jatin-Lalit is
below average except the two numbers that have picked up, "Dil me dard sa jaga
            hai" and "Hai O Rabba".
Acting-wise, Bobby Deol could have been better. One feels as if he is copying his brother.
Amisha has no role at all and one wonders why she ever chose this film. Vinod Khanna and
Rati Agnihotri are just about ok but one had better expectations as regards their choice
            of
 | |
        | doing a movie
especially when they are staging a comeback. Kabir Bedi looks smart and does a good job.
His dialogue delivery is good and he is the only interesting character in the film.
Overall, Kranti is a disappointing film and will certainly not interest many.
