Some of the Major Detections of Sensational Crimes in Bangalore are as follows:

(1997):

  • Nirmal Kumar Jaipuria a prominent businessman was kidnapped on 15-7-97 & a ransom of Rs.10 Crore was demanded. Jaipuria was rescued within 4 days and 10 members of the gang were arrested. The gang members had links with Punjab terrorists and professional kidnappers who had successfully kidnapped/killed persons in Varanasi, Patna, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
  • Master Chandrashekar, a 6 year old boy was kidnapped by Babu @ N. Prakash of Mandya & Ravi @ Raghavendra of Mandya was rescued by B’lore City Police(Aug.1997).
  • Krithikha Shah a 6 year old girl was kidnapped from Sophia convent on 3.9.97. The girl was rescued by B’lore City Police and kidnapper arrested.
  • Bangalore City Police helped Andhra Police in unearthing a gang responsible for the bomb blast at Hyderabad. The accused were arrested & material used for making bombs were recovered (Nov. 1997).

(1998):

  • Umesh Reddy a notorious criminal who used to attack lonely ladies in houses was arrested (March 1998) and 4 cases of murder, rape & molestation were detected.
  • The arrest of J.Kumar @ Jai on 20.3.98 resulted in the detection of 32 cases of chain snatching.
  • Ravi @ Raviprakash who had cheated several banks to the tune of Rs. 55 lakhs along with five persons arrested (June 1998). 6 cases of cheating in Bangalore and 2 cases of assault & extortion were detected.
  • Commercial Street Police arrested a gang of youngsters aged between 18 to 21 years involved in a dacoity and articles & cash valued around Rs. 5 lakhs were recovered. The accused used to follow lonely persons & attack them in isolated places and escape with the booty.
  • Nabbing of the duo Shyam & Ravi brought to light the diabolic crime of 33 murders & 22 robberies committed virtually all over old Mysore area & in Tamilnadu (arrested on 2.8.98).
  • City Police were able to detect the links of some localities dealing with the ISI. 8 members of the gang were arrested & weapons recovered.
  • A dacoity wherein some unknown culprits had looted Rs. 98.55 lakhs from the M.D. Overseas Company Workers was detected. On 23.9.98 Amalraj (32 Yrs.) the main accused was arrested. He had invested his share of Rs.30 lakhs in a factory, a residential house, a shop & a motor cycle, a Maruthi Esteem Car, a tape recorder,mobile Phone, TVS moped, Vijaya Super Scooter, a CD Stereo system with 17 CDs. All these & cash of Rs. 60,300/- was recovered from him. From the other accused properties & the weapons used during the deceity.
  • 33 cases of dacoity detected and property worth Rs. 5 lakhs recovered on 2.11.98.

(1999):

  • Sayam a 4 year old boy was kidnapped from Byrasandra, Jayanagar on 13.3.99 & a ransom of Rs. 6 lakhs was demanded. The dead body of the boy was found on 14.3.99 in the limits of Hebbagodi Police Station in Bangalore District. C.C.B. arrested the kidnappers Mohammad Shameer & Thabrez both aged 19 Yrs. On 22.3.99.
  • Indiranagar Police arrested a gang of 4 persons on 26.6.99 & a series of robbery cases were detected. including Jagadish, 25 Yrs., Suresh 23 Yrs.,Mallesh, 21 Yrs. & Lokesh used to rob innocent pigmy collectors after assaulting them. One case of murder & 8 cases of robbery were detected. These persons were earlier involved in case of murder, 2 cases of attempt to commit murder & 7 cases of robbery.
  • Brown Sugar worth Rs.55 lakhs were seized by officers of C.C.B. and Abdul Lateef (40 years) was arristed on 20.7.99.
  • Sept 1999 the West Zone police arrested 25 accused persons and on their information detected a case of dacoity, a case of robbery, 27 cases of house breaking, theft by night and 81 cases of motor vehicle theft and property valued more than a crore was recovered.
  • Rajgopalnagar police station arrested Sri.Rama and Ananda Kumar and seized two revolvers with ammunition.
  • In September, CCB arrested Venkob Rao who was collecting money from the public on the pretext of providing gas connection under the quota of MP's.800 fake vouchers, 8 gas cylinders with regulators bogus seals and other articles were also.
  • CB also arrested P.K Ramanna, P.Kodandarama and Sreerama Reddy and seized Rs.1,36,000 worth fake notes of the of Rs500/- denomination and 700 fake notes of Rs.100/- denomination.
  • October 99, a gang of dacoites were arrested resulting in the detection of 22 cases of dacoity. Articles worth Rs.3 lakhs including gold ornaments, electronic goods and cloths were recovered.
  • October 99, R T Nagar police arrested one rowdy bomb Naga and seized one country made revolver with ammunition from his possession.
  • October 99, Banasvadi Police arrested three persons resulting in detection of 11 cases of murder and a case of dacoity and recovered gold and silver ornaments.
