Transport department is one among the major revenue earning departments in
the State of Karnataka. The department is formed during 1955.
Since the inception of the department during mid-fifties the primary importance given was
revenue collection and implement rules and regulations with respect to motor
vehicles.
The main objectives of the department :
- To implement rules and regulation
regarding motor vehicles (As laid under MV Act, 1988) .
- To formulate tax rules on motor
vehicles and to collect motor vehicles tax.
- To enforce the provisions of motor
vehicles act and rules.
