Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa...

Movie Review: Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa
Starring: Karan Nath, Jeevidha, Rajat Bedi, Mukesh Rishi, Johnny Lever, Aroona Irani.
Director: Kuku Kohli

Producer: Aruna Irani

Yeh Dil Aashiqana is highly inspired by the 1999 December 24 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight.

The story revolves around two college-mates Karan (Karan Nath) and Pooja (Jeevidha) who are in love

with each other. Everything goes fine in their love story till Pooja's flight is hijacked by terrorists, following the arrest of their leader Ashraf-ul-Haq Mallik. When Karan learns about this, he decides to put his life at risk and rescue his beloved and the other passengers. He succeeds in his effort but by doing so, he ends up earning the wrath of Akhmash Jalal (Aditya Pancholi), the terrorist head. Meanwhile, Pooja is unaware that the mastermind behind the hijack is none other than her brother Vijay Verma (Rajat Bedi). So, when she discloses her intentions of getting married to

iKaran, Vijay strongly opposes it. Karan and Pooja decide to go ahead with their plan and hence elope but are caught and held captive by Akhmash and his men. Akhmash then blackmails the Government

demanding the release of his arrested leader as ransom for Karan and Pooja's lives. In the end, the terrorist's mission gets aborted and the couple is rescued.

Yeh Dil Aashiqana is a joint venture by Aruna Irani and Kuku Kohli. Cinematography in this film by Baba Azmi is the best thing one can talk about. The action scenes are superbly executed especially the heicopter

chase scene. Unlike most love stories, the pace of this film is fast and post interval the film gathers momentum. The dialogues are noteworthy. Editing and art direction is good. Music by Nadeem Shravan is

highly melodious. The background score heightens the overall impact. The other hit numbers are 'Ae Meri Natkathi' and 'Utha Le Jaoonga'. The qawwali is also very well picturised.

Performance-wise both the hero and the heroine, though newcomers are at their best. Karan Nath seems to have worked hard on each and every scene of his and has a promising future. Jeevidha though doesn't have stunning looks performs quite well. Aditya Pancholi is excellent. Aruna Irani

doesn't have much to perform. Rajat Bedi, Johnny Lever and the other supporting casts are OK.

Overall, the film is average and though not a super hit will surely appeal to the action-movie lovers.
