The implementation of measures essential to the effective use of Kannada in the administration, sponsoring programmes for cultural organizations and troupe of artists, extending financial assistance to their working, sanction of honoraria/monthly pension to senior literateurs and artists, grants to the academies constituted by the government, honoring eminent, personages in several walks of life with the Rajyotsava Award and other awards instituted by the State Government, encouragement, of troupe of artists of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes through a variety of schemes under the special component scheme-the department is presently in charge of these major projects.

Development of Kannada Language
The Directorate has sponsored a variety of schemes to promote the use of Kannada at all levels in the administration.

Working Camp for officers/the Staff
At this six-day camp training is imparted in the use of Kannada in overall office work.

Kannada Working Camps for the Staff of the office of the Accountant-General, of Banks and of Factories and for Advocates
Camps are organized to equip the participants with adequate knowledge to enable the use of Kannada in their respective spheres of work.

Workshops for Kannada in the Administration
At these workshops, members of the staff of one particular area are brought together to convince them of the ease with which Kannada can be used in the administration. The participants engage in discussions and exchange views regarding the use of Kannada in the administration, and the simplification of the process.

Teaching Kannada to Non-Kannadigas
Factory workers and members of the public are taught Kannada in three stages-speaking, writing and reading, within a period of six months.

Kannada through Correspondence
With the co-operation of the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, Kannada as the language of administration will be taught through correspondence in ten months. This facility is open to the office staff of the State and the Central Governments, of banks and factories etc.

Learning Kannada through Mass Media
A Project has been started to teach Kannada through T.V. and radios.

Computer Internet Service
Computer Internet connections have been arranged in the computer installed at the office of the Directorate. The general public of world those who require information about different artists, literatures and relevant, institutions working in different part of world may get.

Documentary Films
With the co-ordination of cultural centres of the South Zone the Directorate have been made documentary films on folk art of "Karapalamela" and Beesu Kamsala", forty films have been made under the "Vyakti Shree" project about different eminent, artists,literatures, folk artistes, dramatists, social workers of the state.

Supply of Supplementary Literature
Supplementary literature which facilitates the use of Kannada will be supplied to all offices free of cost. Reference Works Like Model Office Handbooks, Administrative Dictionary, glossaries, glossaries of legal terms and glossaries of departmental technical terms will be prepared and distributed.

Propagation of Culture
Programmes for the promotion of literature, drama, dance, fine arts and folklore, with a view to the encouragement, protection and development of the glorious culture of Karnataka.

Samskrutika Sanje (A Cultural Evening)
Under this scheme cultural programmes are organized, with the co-operation of various associations, every Friday in Bangalore, in the Yavanika auditorium.

Chiguru (Tender Sprout)
Music and dance programmes are organized every month in the Bala Bhavan in Bangalore, with a view to providing children with opportunities to display their latent talents. Promising and talented children participate in these programmes

Samskrutika Sourabha (The Aroma of Culture)
Under this scheme cultural programmes are organized on the third Friday and Saturday of every month in every district.

Kavya Kaveri (The Kaveri of Poetry)

This programme comprises the singing of Kannada lyrics on the first saturday of the month in every district. The programme is organized jointly with the district units of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Ranga Suggi (The Harvest of the Theatre)
The object of this scheme is to involve farmers in cultural activities during the harvest season. Financial assistance is extended to performances of mythological and historical plays wholly organized by the farmers themselves.

Sangeetha Sudhe
Musical programmes have been arranged on every Saturday at Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park with an intention to introduce our music system to the tourists who visit. Bangalore the garden city from outside states/countries and to encourage our artistes of the state.

Samskrutika Vinimaya Karyakramagalu (Cultural Exchange Programmes)
These programmes are organized under the Inter-State Cultural Exchange Programme scheme, jointly with the Central Sangeetha-Nataka Akademi. The Directorate sponsors programmes of artists of other states in Karnataka, and arranges for artists of Karnataka to visit other states.

DARSHANA (Vision)
(Propagation of Rural Culture)
This is a scheme dedicated to the preservation and propagation of rural culture. It carries the great Kannada epics to rural audiences through ‘Gamaka’ (the art of musical rendering of verses). It also aims at the propagation of music, painting and dance in every nook and corner of the state through audio-visual media.

KALAGRAMA (Art Village)
With a view to introducing the cultural wealth of the state a model art village will be developed near Bangalore.

Programs of the South Zone and South Central Zone Cultural Centres

A wide spectrum of cultural programmes will be organized in the state in association with the South Zone Cultural Centre of Tanjavur and the South Central Zone Cultural Centre of Nagpur.

Assistance to Associations and Institutions
Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to cultural organizations in the state for construction of buildings and for cultural programmes like seminars, drama festivals, dance festivals, music conferences, and literary conferences, depending on their quality and excellence.

Assistance for the Purchase of Musical Instruments
Financial assistance, based on merit and need, will be extended to institutions devoted to music, drama, dance and folk arts for the purchase of musical instruments.

Assistance to Artist Teams
Monetary help is provided to cultural activities by sponsoring teams of state artists to participate in programmes in other states.

KAYAKALPA(Rejuvenation Project)
Financial help is extended to professional troupes, companies, owners of such companies and professional actors, financially crippled after dedicated service and meritorious contribution to the professional stage.
