A long ride to the airport and a tedious check in, pat down process later you could be sipping a margarita at the world renowned Plaza Premium Lounge.

Here's how it works - entry to the lounge is priced, for two hours at RS. 1,000 per head for domestic flights, and RS. 1,500 for international departures (if you are an NRI you can afford to cough up some more.)

You and your now slimmer wallet are then given exclusive access to incredibly comfy sofas, a well stocked bar, a 24 hour food station and a spa. If you're all business, you will be pleased to know that there are also workstations with computers, internet access, scanning and printing facilities.

There are deal breakers, of course. The entry fee does not include spa services, and at the domestic lounge, you pay an additional fee for a swig of the good stuff. Otherwise you must make do with the generous juice of the buffet table.

Speaking of food, the spread is decent, albeit far from fine dining. The menu is different everyday, and they make a mean hot jalebi dessert; you could alternatively place your order for a customised omlette, pasta or dosa at the live stations.

Of course, the spoiled silly feeling doesnt quite kick in until you have tried a massage. There is no better way to spend your time waiting for a flight (or for that matter, Doomsday) than getting a foot rub. Say you want one, and you are led to a discreet corner of the 200 seater where the in house masseuse indulges you with green tea and a massage that makes you forgive the guy who told you your luggage was overweight.

Overall, the lounge is as swanky as it promises to be. It caters quite conveniently to the business traveller, and even arranges special areas for a meeting if you book in advance. For the loner on a laptop, you can be sure that the chairs have charging ports and WiFi access so you can retain your couch potato position till final call. A visit may border an splurging as opposed to needing, but makes for a great way to pamper yourself.
