| The bitch should be taken care, specially,
during and before its delivery. The other things to be kept in mind are:
 1.  A Comfortable place should be provided.
 2.  A cloth or a mat should be put for it.
 3.  It should be protected from cold breeze or hot atmosphere.

As the date of delivery is nearing we can see some changes in them:
 |

        | | They will not appreciate the presence of strangers and would like to
        be left  alone. |

        | | 8-10 days
before the due date, the belly gets sagged down. |

        | | There should be no change in the diet of the
bitch. She will on her own, stop taking food 24 hours before delivery.
 |

        | | As time
approaches the bitch gets restless. |

        | Delivery |

        | Each puppy delivered is enclosed in a sac and
has a connecting umbical cord. The sac and the umbical cord are cut by the bitch. The
bitch after cutting the sac licks the pup's body till it starts breathing and then cuts
off the umbical cord. It then nudges the puppy towards her body to provide it milk and
        warmth.
Pups are delivered at intervals of half an hour. In extreme cases it may take 10 minutes
to 1 hour for pups to arrive. A normal litter of 4-5 pups can take hours to deliver.

The bitch after delivery may eat the sac or the umbical cord. This is not abnormal
        behaviour.
