Recipe > Skip's Aranci Alla Siciliana (Oranges Sicilian Style)

Ingredients
16 large brine cured sicilian black olives
1/2 medium, or more to taste lemon, juiced
4 medium navel or other seedless oranges, peeled and sliced  crosswise into thin rounds
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tablespoon salt

Method

  1. Marinate the olives in the lemon juice for approximately 1/2 hour at room temperature.
  2. Arrange the oranges on a platter.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil and lemon juice on the oranges, sprinkle with the salt, then spread the olives over all.
  4. Let the platter rest at room temperature for approximately fifteen minutes.
  5. Baste several times with the accumulated juices before serving.
  6. When ready to serve, place several slices of orange, overlapping one another on each of four plates.
  7. Place four olives on each serving, then spoon the remaining olive oil and lemon juice equally over the plates.
