Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai...

Movie Review: Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai
Starring: Amisha Patel, Aftab Shivdasani, Jackie Shroff, Ashish Vidyarthi, Neena Kulkarni, Anupama
                 Verma
Director: K.Murlimohan Rao

Producer: Allu Arvind

Kya Yehi Pyar Hai is a love story with an entirely different note.

Rahul (Aftab Shivdasani) is madly in love with Sandhya (Amisha Patel) for the last four years but Sandhya is hardly aware of his existence. Rahul forgets his studies and has dedicated his life to Sandhya. Sandhya, on the other hand being the daughter of a maniacal police inspector Raj Patil (Ashish Vidyarthi) believes in making her life different by studying and framing a good career for herself. She is motivated by her mother Rachna (Neena Kulkarni).

Rahul is repeatedly warned by his elder brother Dr. Kulkarni (Jackie Shroff), a  heart specialist that love is not everything in life but Rahul doesn't seem to understand this much. It is only when he loses his brother

in an accident that reality and maturity dawns upon him. But then it is already too late for him. The climax is something that is unexpected and appears rather strange and stupid.

Aftab Shivdasani despite his tireless efforts to publicize his film could not save it from being a disaster. It surely is a movie that is meant for the

common teenager of today to learn a lesson but the emphasis on the moral is not strong enough. K. Murali Manohar Rao is the only one to be blamed for poor direction that led to the downfall of this movie. Performance wise, Aftab is OK, his usual self as in other movies but Amisha is bad. She desperately needs to mature as

an actress in order to sustain as a decent actress in filmdom. We wish her luck in her next venture. Jackie Shroff leaves a mark in his small role. Anupama Verma is ok. Ashish Vidyarthi is too loud and his dialogues are crude. Music by Sajid- Wajid is the only saving grace in this film. "Meri tarah tum bhi kabhi" , "Pehli pehli baar hai", "Dil pe chhane laga hai nasha pyar ka" and "Deewana mujhe kehta hai" are the top numbers. Cinematography

is OK. Javed Siddique's script could have certainly been better.

Overall, the film might draw many tennagers to the theatre because of the huge promotional efforts by its producers but as far as rating goes, it is below average.
