Edwards Road, a tiny lane just off Queen's Road and parallel to Cunningham Road, is lusciously green and tucked away, unlike any other eatery setting in the city. But when you find a place called Secret Garden there, the jigsaw fits perfectly. This space is really quite secret (there are quite a few tales of people who been unable to locate it) and certainly set amid a verdant garden. Started by two friends Niradha and Smitha, who do the cooking themselves with the help of a couple of homely women. Secret Garden perches on a shaded terrace, and is at once cosy and intimate. The menu is eclectic, featuring soups, sandwiches, desserts and main course dishes which crisscross cuisines from all over the world. Open only for lunch, there's no telling what you will find at the Secret Garden: pasta, Vietnamese noodles, jambalaya, pan-tried fish... the list goes on.
