Economic empowerment, financial stability & self respect - The dreams of millions of dairy farmers in Karnataka is springing up.
Milk producing farmers, who work tirelessly 365 days, rearing and milking cattle without a day’s break and pouring milk to cooperative dairy societies twice a day, are to be thanked.
After a three decades effort, KMF registered a record breaking milk procurement of 42.99 lakh kgs per day. This was possible due to the Karnataka Government’s initiative to provide to the farmers a support price of Rs. 2/- per kg of milk. So far Rs. 916 crores has been released to farmers. This has also benefited consumers of Nandini milk who get Nandini milk at lowest price when compared with all other States.
With over 2.13 million milk producer members of 11443 Dairy Cooperative Societies from village level and Cooperative Milk Unions of 13 districts of Karnataka State Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is known as the largest cooperative federation of milk & dairy product producers. KMF has been working with farmers since last four decades & helped the Karnataka State to become a milk-surplus from a milk-scarcity state.
